Tool Buying Advice
When buying second hand tools, our advice is to follow some simple steps:
When buying from a stranger, ask some simple questions about them e.g. – What do they do for a living?, Did they buy the tool new? Etc.
If they are selling through an online site, check their feedback or history before going to meet them. It’s usually a good indicator of what type of seller they are.
When buying a tool at a market or car boot sale, trust your gut instinct and first impressions of the seller. If the deal seems too good to be true, well, you know the rest!
Check the tool itself for any owners marks, or where someone has tried to remove an owners mark. Check also for the serial number on the tool. Every tool, battery and charger has a serial number, if it has been tampered with, chances are they don’t want you to know it.
Last but not least, use Toolcheck to do a background check on the tool. If its on our site, we will tell you the current situation of the tool in question.
